Atelier 19

We are a small team in our Barcelona studio called Atelier 19, which opened in 2024. However, the journey began two years ago in Sofia, Bulgaria, where the initial idea took shape. One day, our founder, Vilyana Milanova, was looking for a present for a friend. She needed to find a high-quality silk pocket square but couldn’t find one that suited her perceptions. It was at this point that the idea was born. Soon after, as an artist with a degree in textile art, she decided to create her own brand to combine artisanal skills, art, a love for natural materials, and high-quality handcrafted products. She wanted to convert her passion into her everyday life so she could share this feeling with those who choose her brand.

Atelier 19 is named after the student workspace in the textile department that she and four other artists shared. The number on the door was 19. Whenever and wherever she works, she always tries to recreate her workspace to maintain the productivity, creativity, and artistic spirit of Atelier 19.

After moving to Barcelona, the brand owner dedicated herself to realizing her vision of an atelier for high-quality, handcrafted silk accessories with unique designs. Nowadays, she applies her artisanal skills to our products every day. Each piece is limited and hand-crafted, emphasizing the importance of hand-rolled hems. We do this in our atelier, where there is a certain magic in ensuring the best final results.

Our Brand Name

"Milánova & Milánova is a tribute to my family. It honors my father, who gave me this family name, and the women in my family who share the same name. It’s my way of honoring their unwavering support and love. The first Milánova represents me, and the second represents the women who have always stood behind me, supporting me."
